Poll: Has God Ever “Spoken” to You About Your Talent?

10 November 2008 9 Comments

Many of us believe that God still speaks to His people. Although, not as much in an audible voice, but many Christian visual artists and designers  do believe that God can and does guide and directs His artists.

God says that He speaks to all people throughout time so that there is no excuse to not seek Him , find Him and Know Him.

Well first of all God speaks through His word and verses like Ephesians 2:10 and 1 Peter 4:10 are examples of God speaking to us about our talents as well as the various Body of Christ references. Secondly most of my “good ideas” come during my morning prayer walks when I am just walking quietly and inviting God to speak into my life and lastly, I had a time last year when the Lord spoke something to me in my heart in worship at a conference that was so amazing that I really wrestled with him on it thinking it was just my thoughts and that I needed to humble myself for thinking that. I heard him say one last thing confirming it and then the speaker started. The speaker began his message by saying almost verbatim what I heard from the Lord.

Arthur: Thanks for the comment and for chiming in!

Dave: I enjoy those quiet times outside with the Lord. I used to work in a downtown office that actually had a river within walking distance. God and I had many chats by that peaceful river!

Sure He has. If He gives someone a talent, it’s to be used for God’s glory, and if we listen, He’ll tell us how.

    …I just wish I spent more time listening. ^^;

I always find it a struggle to spend quality time hearing from Him.

But that’s how I know that it’s the key to good success.

repeatedly. what can i say? i’m a little dense. not only has there been encouragement and affirmation as to my calling, there has also been rebuke and warning when i start to lose focus and become overly enamoured with ideas rather than the kingdom. but he is gracious…

    techne: Hi Edward!

He is good to us, isn’t He?

I know that He speaks to us because he cares.
    We just have to listen.

Yes he speaks. We make things more complicated when we interrupt him.

    Hey Charlene:

I agree. You know how in prayer, a lot of times WE do ALL the talking?

I try pausing now, reading, meditating on His Word in the prayer time more to let Him actually get a word in!
    :)
