I believe that if you can define a thing, you stand a better chance of performing or embracing it. So with that in mind how do you define “Creativity”?
I’ve been reading a book this week (that I mysteriously discovered in the In Box of my desk) called “The Gatekeepers” by Nathanael Wolf and it defines “Creativity” this way:
“Taking what you uniquely possess and doing something unanticipated, unexpected and extraordinary with it.”
Even though there are millions of artists and designers in our world, there are only a few in your immediate circle. Your ability to draw, paint, design and create is your God-given unique ability. Not everyone can do what you have been enabled to do.
That very fact sets the stage for you to do some extraordinary things, and I want to emphasize “extra-ordinary”. God gets glory when He uses your talent to do the unanticipated.
African Bears?
A few years ago, I did something unexpected with my talent. One Christmas, after curiously watching people take craft store teddy bears and dress them in elf-like costume, I put a twist on the idea. I took the same craft store bears and dressed them in African attire. This unanticipated approach was a hit at trade shows and with retail shops that sold African inspired gift items.
So, what door is God about to open for you that will allow you to take what you uniquely possess (your talent and skill) and use it in an extraordinary way?

Hey Lori-
It sounds like you’ve already walked through one door with the nuturing of creativity in others. That sounds great!
If you are feeling there is more, I would take a few hours or even a day of uninteruppted fellowship with the Holy Spirit (sorta’ like a personal Retreat), asking for His guideance.
After that, be observant and watch for instances where He invites you to “walk through”a door. It may be someone asking you to do a project, or even an idea that you just can’t get rid of.
Thoughts?
That is a really good question! It seems I am caught so often in the frenzy of the now, that I can find no good way of moving beyond just accomplishing what I must each day.
I have been encouraged to write and complimented on my creativity, but mostly I’ve spend my time identifying and nurturing creativity in others. I love doing this, it’s the biggest gift I bring to our ministry, but, I feel there is something else too…not sure how to move out of now…
