2 Secret Words That Lead To Getting Things Done
POTENTIAL:
Your creative POTENTIAL can be defined as “everything that you are meant to be or to do as an artist or designer, but just haven’t done it yet”.
Your vantage point can be limited. You may see only what you have or have not done as an artist so far…your past. But your creative POTENTIAL is what God sees when He looks at you. It’s the part of Himself that He’s placed in you to do the work that He’s calling you to do.
God’s word puts it this way: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
You look at your past artistic successes or failures because MEMORIES make them real. Now you must learn to look at what’s next to accomplish because POTENTIAL makes it real.
Here’s how you do that:
GOALS:
Writing down specific and measurable goals involving your creative ability puts pressure on your potential. It puts your potential in action.
It sounds too simple, but here’s why it works.
God-given goals, when written down, state that based on your ability (and God’s empowerment working through you), here’s what you are able to make happen and here’s when it can be expected.
After several years of spinning my wheels and wasting my talent, I began to do what I noticed successful people doing. They were beyond dreaming and were “doing” simply because they would write down their goals and then put action behind it.
So what were your creative goals this year so far? Were they specific? Which ones have you completed so far? What about going forward?

Christopher-
Thank you for being so transparent and sharing with us.
If anything, this let’s us know how to pray specifically for you.
It’s also somewhat encouraging to know that even an artist of your caliber has new heights God’s taking you to and that we don’t struggle alone.
Be Blessed, brother, and thanks for sharing with your “ALFG Fam”.
Tony-
Yet Again, thank you for this post Tony. It is a “word” for me today.
Gimel, man you are speaking my language
“I’m still learning the difference between drawing [Painting] by grace opposed from [to] drawing [Painting] from determination.” This is were I struggle as well Brother. In fact it is far beyond a struggle anymore, because to tell the truth, in “my-self” I am, and have long been utterly defeated. When I try to control my gift, I can not paint nor draw anything, and I am totally fearful of success, failure and not being good enough. It has paralyzed me for years.
So I ask for all of your prayers, because if God does not create through me, for His glory, I can not do it. The one good things is that I still have faith to believe, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – PHILIPPIANS 4:13
That’s good news
I love ya’ll, and you all will be the first to hear when I get my breakthrough. Thanks for the prayers family.
With the Love of Christ,
Chris†opher
To be transparent with you guys…I’ve always had the enemy in my ear, telling me of how I’m not doing what I believed the Lord wanted me to do.
There was this tremendous guilt and anxiety for not meeting my “heavenly deadline.”
I would hear horror sermons of people missing their divine opportunity.
I then had to step back from it all and ask the Lord to show my true intent, because guilt and fear are not the fruit I’m suppose to be bearing in this covenant.
It was weird, the second God revealed to me what He wanted me to do with Him…the second I saw my impotency to produce it.
So, lets just say, my faith in Christ had to take the lead, and obedience stemmed from love replaced the fear of “failing” Him.
Short story shorter, God depends on the Son in me to fulfill all things through me, not me in and of myself…that’s why I have the Son, so that the Son of God in me, can do God through me.
I’m still learning the difference between drawing by grace opposed from drawing from determination.
What I will to do…this I do not practice…but I find another law working in my members…the law of the Spirit.
It is quite hard to stay focused I feel.
Sometimes all goes well but every now and then life turns into a roller coaster!
How I deal with it is at least spend time each morning looking at the bigger picture and identifying how each small task fits into the larger plan.
Thanks for the interesting topic,
Jo
Ah! Great observation, Victoria!
I agree. You can throw all of this out the window if there is no action taken!
Writing down goals without taking action is a waste of paper.
I would say there are 3 secret words you put out there: Potential, Goals and Action. Goals without action is not living in faith. Living in faith is stepping out(action)based on goals God has given each of us. I so appreciate your message in this post it is truly inspiring. Now I need to go write down those measurable goals and go into action. Thank you.
