3 Secrets to Success For Artists and Designers

successI define “success” or being “prosperous” as having all that you need in order to fulfill your God-given assignments.

Fulfilling those assignments or ”calling” is usually an innate drive (passion), placed there by God Himself. But the irony is that we often exclude the God-given solutions that will fulfill that God-given passion.
That’s why, you as an artist or designer may have been frustrated somewhere in life when pursuing success with your creativity, but the following scriptures can shed light and give clarity on how to be successful according to God’s plan for you life and fulfill your God-given assignments:

1. Study And Follow What God’s Word Says About It (Whatever “It” May Be):

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Joshua 1:8 (New International Version)

“…observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in His ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go”
1 Kings 2:3 (New International Version)

2. Do What’s Right According To God’s Way Of Doing Things, Not According to What’s Common or Popular:

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
Psalm 1:1-3
(New International Version)

3. Treat It As “God’s Project” or “God’s Business”, Not Your Own:

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
Proverbs 16:3
(New International Version)

So what do you say? Should artists and designers even seek to be “successful” at all? Does success really mean having all that you need in order to fulfill your God-given assignments?

Gimel, Devin, Thanks for chiming in!

In this age where formulas, methods, best practices, etc are so accessible I have to remind myself that God had already written down what He wants me to do in order to be successful in eyes.

  6. I agree with this. And it is a good reminder. We can often get caught up in trying to appeal to the masses through the world’s methods, which are not always acceptable to God. Not saying never, just saying not always.
