REVEALED: The latest line up of ART SLAM Visual Artists!
On May 14, 2011 these artists will share a stage with a live DJ along with live entertainment, all before a live audience. Once a subject or theme is announced on the spot to all artists, they create on canvas their expression of that theme. At the end of the two hour countdown, the audience chooses the winner of the $100 cash prize provided by event sponsor The IMAGINE CENTER.
Check out the Artist Statements of the artists and ALFG subscribers that will be on stage LIVE for ART SLAM:
Artist’s Statement: “Ever since I was a little kid, I could identify with the phrase, ‘runs with scissors’, especially when it came to the things that I was passionate about. As an adult, I have been very blessed to have found a challenging way to express my passion through art: tattooing. This form of art has taught me something that I try to apply to my everyday life, ‘no re-do’s’ and no erasing.”
Artist’s Statement: “An artist, designer and aspiring comic book author mostly influenced by God, as well as by science fiction and fantasy works.”
Artist’s Statement: Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Gaffney focuses on Abstract Art using mixed media.
“I enjoy using bold colors, odd shapes and tools in creating my work. I am not afraid of color and love layers to create depth and dimension. Inspired by music, sometimes I find myself dancing as I paint!”
Artist’s Statement: “My medium has drastically changed since I began to create my works of art. When I began to create, it was sketch work to begin with, and then I added ink and color. Evolving now into canvas work, recycled art, etc…
I still do my sketchbook work, which is now on book number 6. I also do commissioned work if needed. When I was a child I enjoyed art in elementary school and middle school. I owe God most of all for the gift of creating art and my former art teachers a debt of thanks for sparking my creative muse.”
Dalia Karina Delanuez aka “Karina”
Artist’s Statement: “Karina’s style reflects a humanistic approach that is influenced by the love for people that God is putting in her heart. Utilizing the techniques of mixed media, her work first appeared in several galleries in Honduras, where she founded D’Art, an art school.”
Patro “Pero” Ulmer
Artist’s Statement: “Born and raised in Orangeburg, SC, Patro “Pero” Ulmer is resident of Anderson, SC and a graduate of Claflin University. Pero (which means “Street Artist”) was exposed to many different cultures and different walks of life during his college years and was inspired by the early 80’s Hip Hop, with its bright colors, bold lines, graffiti, originality, and freedom of expression.
Pero is a color blind artist that is blessed with the gift of creativity which led him to become well known around his community since childhood.
His positive outlook and appreciation of life have had a major effect in his art.
