I have a printer sitting on my desk with a flashing red light.
This printer is designed to print awesome color images, different sizes and with great quality. This printer has in the past exceeded my expectations with it’s ability. It’s come through when I needed it to, doing exactly what it was designed to do: Print awesome color images.
…but now, I’m frustrated because something is wrong.
The awesome printer is not operating properly (that’s why the red light is flashing).
It keeps jamming and I can’t figure out why.
What’s frustrating the most is that I know it’s POTENTIAL, but I keep failing at getting it to live up to it.
…and for some reason, I haven’t taken the time to consult the owners manual.
I deal with “workarounds”, getting stuff printed elsewhere, rather than taking the time to consult the manufacturer on how to get what he designed to live up to it’s full potential (which I know is utterly AWESOME).
Are you frustrated?
You KNOW your creativity has AWESOME potential, but you just don’t see it taking off?
You know you and your gift have a God-given purpose, but you’re frustrated because it’s just not moving?
When’s the last time you spent time in the “owner’s manual” and/or talked to the “manufacturer” ?
Ask yourself the following:
1. How is my prayer life?
2. How often do I spend undistracted time with God in His word?
3. Am I fellowshipping regularly with other Believers (am I a member of a local bible-believing church)? Do I have an active role there or do I just attend and watch?
4. (And I don’t want to assume, so I’ll ask…) Have I accepted Christ as my personal Savior?
Jesus said this about trying to survive disconnected from Him:
“I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me (cut off from vital union with Me) you can do nothing.” -John 15:5 (Amplified Bible).
You were not made to live, work or thrive separate from God…and when you try to, it gets frustrating.
That could be why the red light is flashing.
