Secret Revealed: Concept Artist Teaches You to Make Cool Skies & Backgrounds

Illustrator, Concept Artist Rob Joseph

Many of you have seen the art of Rob Joseph here at ALFG before. He’s not only a gifted professional illustrator and concept artist, but he’s one of the panel of judges for the upcoming December 1st  ART SLAM LIVE™ competition.

Today Rob was willing to allow you to see the secret of his AWESOME cloud and background techniques used in many of his digital paintings.

Take a look at how Rob teaches fellow artists his method. (You’ll see why he was chosen to be a part of the judge’s panel!):

  1. Nice tutorial. :) Doing clouds is hard, but I’ll try this method… I use the GIMP, but I think that with a bit of tweaking the tutorial should work on that, too.

    Thank you. :)

    • Thanks snow. Remember there is no one best or end all be all way of doing anything when it comes to art. my goal is that you take this tutorial and like you said, tweak it to fit your workflow. Good luck!
