How God Speaks to Artist Thomas Blackshear

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Thomas Blackshear, one of my favorite artists, was interviewed by author J. Scott McElroy in his book “Finding Divine Inspiration”. Scott asks the artist “How does God work with you in your creative process?”

Behind The Scenes: An Artist Workshop

The purpose of this post is to detail the steps used to create one of my digital images “Trumpet”:
1. Concept/Inspiration:
This is an illustration from the “Gideon Project” that I’ve been working on. This scene depicts Gideon, a young man whom God has called to be a defender of his people, about to launch one of the most miraculous battles known in the bible. Gideon is seen here blowing his trumpet, creating the sound that sets off the surprise attack on the Midianite invaders.
