Continuing the series I started called “Artists In Action”, where I interview Christian visual artists who are actually working in their craft. (Special thanks goes to Pastor Dave Weiss for blogging about today’s featured artist).
The interview today is with painter Charlene Rice. Charlene does a great job using video and the web to document the creative experience with her work. Pay special attention to her answer to question #3:

I am considering modifying my logo (pictured on the left). The plan is to still keep it simple, but change it from the Papyrus font to something else that still communicates traditionalism and new media by showing a hand-held artistic font on top of the URL.
Not sure if I should even change it, but if I do, I’ve created two modifications of the original that I’m debating between.

This was an excellent idea that a group in California implemented to introduce Visual Art as a ministry to their church.
It’s called The Cross Collaboration, and more than thirty people from Coast Hills Community Church made their own unique designs of the Cross for a Good Friday Service. Made of all sizes and materials, each cross tells the beauty and brokeness of Christ’s Cross from a unique and personal perspective. See it for yourself:
